Position Summary

This is a .7FTE (3.5 days a week) benefited staff position within the Graduate School of Social Work at the University of Denver. The Course Coordinator serves as the primary support person to faculty course leads/developers and section instructors, while also a liaison between instructional designers, GSSW Academic Affairs, and MSW program directors. While the coordinators will be involved in courses across all of the GSSW programs (Denver Campus MSW, Four Corners MSW, Western Colorado MSW, and MSW@Denver online), the majority of the responsibilities will be with MSW@Denver online courses. In addition to assigned teaching responsibilities, the Course Coordinator ensures the quality delivery of curriculum across foundation and concentration content, both online and on-ground. Simultaneously, in collaboration with course leads and GSSW Academic Affairs, the Course Coordinator promotes effective, critical, and inclusive teaching practices and pedagogies to support faculty development and student success. This includes assisting with instructor orientation, faculty training, teaching evaluation/assessment, student support, and compliance with program accreditation and DU policies/procedures. This position will have flexibility with work schedule, to include some evening and or weekend hours and virtual/remote office opportunities. This position will report to the GSSW Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.

Essential Functions

  • Serves as content/teaching matter expert in 1 of the following MSW curricular areas: methods/skills (including macro practice), theory for practice (including policy)/research, or Power Privilege & Oppression (PPO)/Values for Practice;
  • Supports course leads, per curricular area of expertise, with the maintenance of curriculum, dissemination of information/resources, course/assignment expectations, and coordination of section faculty, specifically adjunct instructors;
  • Respond to adjunct facultys questions regarding teaching, GSSW supports, and University of Denver policies and procedures, while triage for added support from course leads, program directors, Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, as appropriate;
  • Assists with GSSW and University course assessment/evaluation and feedback processes, to include supporting faculty development and training;
  • Assists with on boarding of and orientation for new instructors and course deployments per quarter, throughout the academic year (including summers).
  • Supports inclusive, critical, and best teaching practices, including digital pedagogies and effective use of classroom technologies and learning management systems.

Supervisory Duties:

  • This position will support the supervision of 20-30 adjunct faculty instructors.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to resolve routine problems using existing guidelines and processes
  • Ability to make independent decisions and or/recommendations when necessary
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to provide guidance on how to address dynamics in a virtual and in-person classroom in which micro aggressions and difficult conversations occur
  • Excellent organizational skills, including maintaining efficient system work flows and administrative processess;
  • Strong MS Office skills, including Excel
  • Demonstrated commitment, knowledge and ability to effectively engage individuals from broadly diverse communities

Required Qualifications

  • Masters degree, with minimum 2 years post masters relevant experience
  • Minimum 2 years higher education teaching experience, including online teaching

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Social Work (MSW), with 4-5 years post masters relevant experience (including supervision or group facilitation);
  • Experience with CSWE-accreditated curriculum
  • Expertise in cultural responsivity, mental health interventions, research/program evaluation, social work policy, and/or online delivery/teaching
  • Experience with clinical licensure and/or understanding of licensure processes
  • Experience with field education and/or graduate internship experiences and processes
  • Ability to work collaboratively both in online/virtual and in-person environments.

Work Schedule

This is a remote position that will work 3.5 days a week with a flexible work schedule to be discussed with the hiring supervisor.

Salary Range:
Salary will be determined by the qualifications of the selected candidate balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.
