William Jewell College seeks an experienced, strategic leader to join our leadership team as Vice President for Finance and Operations/Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This is an opportunity to have impact on the future of the Kansas City Region by advancing the College’s Mission with the aim of strengthening the College’s financial profile and leading the College in adopting strategic growth opportunities.
Serving as the Treasurer for the College per its Bylaws—and thus as an Officer of the College—the CFO directs the organization’s financial planning, accounting practices, and its relationship with lending institutions, donors, and the financial community. The position provides strategic support to Trustees, the President, and the Cabinet as the College continues to strengthen its financial profile and market presence. The CFO also provides direction, coordination, evaluation, and leadership for all administrative and ancillary functions of the College. The position also works closely with key constituents to create and enact strategies designed to ensure William Jewell’s long-range sustainability. The CFO reports directly to the President and serves on the President’s Cabinet.
Education and Experience:
• Master’s degree or progress toward a Master’s degree required. CMA or CPA certificate strongly preferred.
• Five or more years of progressively responsible senior-level experience in most or all of the reporting areas required.
• Knowledge of the higher education landscape preferred.
This is an exempt, full-time position. Salary is commensurate with experience, and includes an excellent benefits package including medical/dental/vision/life/LTD insurance, 403(b) retirement plan plus match after qualifying period, 10 days of vacation per year, 12 sick days and a minimum of 14 paid holidays annually. Staff members also receive free admission to campus events, use of the pool, fitness center, and tennis courts. Tuition remission is also available after an introductory period. Voluntary benefits include: long-term care insurance.
