The Leadership & Organizational Studies department the University of Southern Maine seeks a part-time faculty member to teach a graduate-level course in Leadership Studies. The course may be offered in either fully online or blended format (a blend of online and face-to-face instruction) on our Portland campus. Specifically, there is a need in the following academic area within our discipline: Communication and Relationship Building. This graduate level course explores communication theory, organizational communication, and best practices in professional communication as they apply to leadership.

Part-time faculty members are paid on a credit hour basis based on prior college teaching experience. In addition, USM employees, have access to the library, Cigna Employee Assistance Plan, and fitness center (s) with their USM Card. USM also offers Part-time faculty the opportunity for development frequently through our Center for Collaboration and Development (CCD), the chance to get an online teaching certification and training through CTEL, in addition to other developmental opportunities open to all staff throughout the year.

Qualifications:

Required: Master’s degree in leadership studies, organizational leadership, organizational psychology, organizational behavior, business administration, public administration, or a related field.

Preferred: Earned doctorate in leadership studies, organizational leadership, organizational psychology, organizational behavior, or a related field. Prior college teaching experience in the traditional classroom and online strongly favored.
