This position will be a part of the Cyber NYC Applied Learning Initiative, a collaborative endeavor between the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC), and several academic and industry entities charged with the mission of establishing New York City as a global leader in cybersecurity education, training, and talent. Cyber NYC is a $100 million suite of public-private investments to establish New York City as a global leader in cybersecurity and catalyze jobs. The initiative will strategically grow NYC’s cybersecurity diverse talent pipeline and workforce, help companies thrive, and build networks and community spaces.
Specifically, the Educational Technologist will work to establish the Stackable Credentials Program, which will provide life-long learning and stackable credentialing through one-month, self-paced online modules focused on Cybersecurity topics and created by industry. An innovative approach to education, micro-credentialing will enable students to take tailored coursework throughout their lives according to industry’s evolving needs. By operating across New York City universities and securing credit-sharing agreements, this program will widen the availability and flexibility of Cybersecurity education and help make New York City a global leader in Cybersecurity education.
The position works with instructors and instructional designers to design and develop online courses (for-credit and non-credit/continuing education) for the Tandon School of Engineering, ensuring high quality course materials are created and courses fulfill their objectives while providing a quality student experience. This is accomplished through the application of video recording and production best practices, knowledge of educational technology tools and systems, and effective identification and fulfillment of training and support needs.
QualificationsRequired Education:Bachelor's Degree in a related to media productionPreferred Education:Master's DegreeRequired Experience:2+ years of experience in the following: • Managing a video recording environment and equipment • Recording and editing audio and video, preferably using Adobe
Premiere and Audition • Working on a project team • Evaluating, implementing, and managing educational technology and tools • Providing educational technology support to students and/or facultyPreferred Experience:2+ years experience using a learning management system, such as Sakai or Blackboard; and, eLearning Authoring Tool Experience: such as Articulate Storyline or Adobe Captivate. Video/Lecture Capture Experience (i.e., Camtasia Studio, Adobe products, etc.)Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Familiarity with learning management systems. Ability to make decisions independently.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Experience in the following preferred but not required: Experience with Adobe After Effects; Experience creating animation and/or interactives in HTML5; Experience producing video-intensive online courses (e.g., MOOCs); Experiencing with eLearning authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline/Adobe Captivate; Graphic design experience.
