The Department of Psychology consists of 29.5 faculty members, the staff of the advising center, the staff of the Psychoeducational Clinic, and the four members of our office staff, as well as over 750 undergraduate majors and 120 graduate students pursuing their doctoral degrees. The faculty are outstanding scholars, many of whom have won awards for teaching and research and/or are fellows in the major professional societies in Psychology. Faculty have received research grants and training grants from the National Science Foundation, the National Institutes for Health, the National Institute on Aging, the Army Research Laboratory, the Army Research Institute, the Department of Education, and numerous companies.

The Human Factors and Applied Cognition Program is an HFES-accredited Ph.D. program.

Essential Job Duties

North Carolina State University seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor for its Ph.D. program in Human Factors and Applied Cognitive Psychology to begin Fall 2020. We are especially interested in individuals with a research concentration in human factors and health. Other preferred research foci include work on automation and human-robot teams.

Successful candidates will have:

  • A strong record of research productivity,
  • The potential to develop an independent, externally-funded research program, and
  • A commitment to teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels including courses on biological psychology.
The Human Factors and Applied Cognitive Psychology program emphasizes interdisciplinary research and application of fundamental and applied research to the solution of practical problems in health, aging, transportation, human-robot interaction, and cybersecurity, and welcomes applicants contributing to these scholarly goals.Other Work/ResponsibilitiesMinimum Education/Experience
