Computer Lab Assistant
Job Purpose: Routine operations of computer labs, which includes hardware and software support for students and staff. As part of the routine activities, students will work under supervision maintaining equipment. Wells College will have five or more full computer labs in 2015.Job Duties and Responsibilities: The goal is to provide lab support during scheduled periods so that guests can come in for assistance navigating the Globe, Office 365, Adobe products, Paper Cut, and other such programs. Professors may at some point use them for general support introducing their students to class-specific software and courseware like Moodle or SPSS. Additionally monitoring graphic arts printers will help control waste and excess costs. When not acting as an assistant to students and faculty, Lab Assistants will monitor the labs, maintain the equipment, and keep the lab computers class ready.
Job Qualifications: Lab Assistants should have one year of experience as Student Help Desk Assistants or a related experience. The related experience should include a basic understanding of software interfaces, Office, Adobe Suites, working knowledge of internet browsers, and search engines. Lab Assistants will be working independently of the Help Desk at most times.
