Position Overview

Butler University seeks a part-time, 12-month assistant men’s tennis coach to assist with managing and supervising the day-to-day operations of the athletic team including teaching, coaching, recruiting, and academic monitoring. The assistant coach will provide leadership and support for the vision and strategies of the Butler men’s tennis program. The position provides a monthly stipend.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist head coach with practice and game coaching; coach individual hitting sessions throughout the year
  • Help manage and organize game-day operations
  • Develop and maintain statistical performance records for individual athletes and the team
  • Assist with the planning and organization of the annual fundraiser
  • Assist with the evaluation and recruitment of academically qualified and highly skilled student athletes
  • Assist with academic monitoring and the personal development of student athletes
  • Contribute to building a positive team culture
  • Administrative duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required or appropriate combination of education and experience
  • Collegiate or professional playing experience
  • Knowledge of NCAA Division I and Big East Conference rules and regulations required or willingness to learn
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and staff
  • Clean driving record with a valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with tennis video analysis software
  • Racket stringing experience
