Associate Dean For Clinical Affairs

The Family Medicine faculty members will assist the Chair of Primary Care in development of clinical content for systems courses, participate in scholarship and research in the department, provide quality patient care and foster collaboration and interdisciplinary learning. Members of the Department of Primary Care will be expected to participate in teaching in the systems courses, physical exam course, case-based learning sessions, preparation for clerkships, procedural skills training, OSCE’s and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine Laboratory. The members of the department will also participate in the SHSU practice plan. The individuals should be comfortable working in preclinical and clinical education, as well as evaluation of curriculum and students through various learning and assessment methods. The ideal candidate should have strong clinical acumen and skills in osteopathic manipulative medicine.Educational Requirements for the Position
The successful candidate will have a DO or MD degree from an accredited college of medicine with residency training leading to board certified in Family Medicine, current AOBFP or ABFM board certification and eligibility for, or a current license to practice in Texas. OMM skills are highly desirable for this position.Experience Required for the Position
A background in medical education is preferred, as is experience in pre-clinical and clinical teaching, osteopathic manipulation skills and well-developed communication skills. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with experience and training.Other Requirements for the Position
Ability to communicate and work with faculty, medical students, clerkship coordinators, hospital administrators, physician preceptors and college administration. Excellent written and verbal communication. Demonstrates personal initiative and abilities to deal with a rapidly changing environment. Familiar with Learning Management Systems and reporting. Other duties as assigned.
Note: This position is currently located in Huntsville, TX but will be relocated to Conroe, TX once construction of the medical school facility is complete.
