DESCRIPTION

This temporary position provides valuable support in the early stage of establishing a data analysis and research team focused on education research. - Gathers and analyzes research data; prepares and summarizes information and / or recommendations. Manages database of research data for projects. - Assists with report preparation and / or analysis for internal constituents. Prepares reports of studies for internal validation and cross validation studies. - May assist with study design proposals and survey instruments. Prepares data for presentation. - Assists in developing systems for organizing data to analyze, identify and report trends. Provides technical assistance on data management and use of research data to analyze and interpret findings. Provides technical consultation on aspects of data management and use of research data. - May assist with evaluation and research of data reporting products. May be involved in researching, evaluating and selecting new data reporting products. Analyzes the interrelationships of data and defines logical aspects of data sets.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Demonstrated ability to clean and prepare data sets using R, SQL and Python, and other tools.

  • Working skills in statistical analysis, systems programming, database design and data security measures.

  • Experience working with large-scale data sets. Demonstrated ability to acquire, understand and analyze large and complex datasets.

  • Experience creating data visualizations, including web-based tools (e.g., Tableau, Cognos, or using R, Python, or similar)

  • Knowledge of database management for large datasets, including design and querying. - Basic knowledge of data governance and data architecture.

  • Bachelor degree in Computer or Data Science, Statistics or a related field or equivalent experience.

  • Strong oral and written communication abilities, including skill in explaining and interpreting data.

  • Ability to work on a diverse campus and with all members of the campus community (student, faculty, staff), and a demonstrated commitment to cultural competence within an academic setting.

  • Strong organizational skills: ability to work in a multi-task environment, prioritize tasks, attend to details, and meet deadlines.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work on multiple projects simultaneously.

PREFERRED
  • Experience developing ad-hoc and standard reports and dashboards.

  • In-depth knowledge of UCSD’s Web-based link families, tools, queries and on-line forms.

  • Master's degree in Computer or Data Science, Statistics or a related field.
