Major Responsibilities

•Teach a combination of lecture, laboratory and problem solving courses in chemistry to first and second-year majors and non-majors (12 credit load each fall and spring semester)
•Facilitate class instruction. Teach the assigned classes in accordance with learning objectives and specified by the syllabus
•Evaluate student performance; administer evaluations of student performance.
•Provide scheduled office hours
•Work with department faculty to contribute to curriculum development
•Serve on department and college committees as appropriate
•Engage in scholarly activity

Functional and Supervisory Relationships

Works under the direct supervision of the department chair. Works closely with faculty and staff within the department. Additional working relationships with faculty and staff in other college departments.

Required Qualifications

-Master’s Degree in chemistry by time of appointment.
-Evidence of effectiveness in teaching.

Preferred Qualifications

-Earned doctorate in chemistry
-Post doctoral experience
-Experience teaching first and second-year chemistry for majors and non-majors.
-Experience in teaching students from diverse backgrounds.
