The Kinesiology Department is housed in the College’s School of Professional Studies. The degrees offered include: B.S. in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Fitness Development, Coaching, and Sport Studies. A Master’s of Exercise Science degree is also offered. The proposal for a new M.S. in Athletic Training is currently being reviewed. The department has 26 full-time faculty members who readily engage their 800 students in teaching, research, and service activities.

The department is member of the American Kinesiology Association (AKA) and recognized by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). The Athletic Training Program is accredited through the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training (CAATE). The department is characterized by a creative and collaborative faculty who foster learning through innovative classrooms, symposia (e.g. Sports Medicine), research, and service learning within the classrooms and in the community.

The department actively promotes equity, inclusion, diversity and social justice, incorporates various approaches to transformational technology, and has accessible, unique, laboratory equipment to provide the necessary experiences to meet student learning objectives. It also has several student clubs (Athletic Training, Dartfish, FIT) that provide avenues of student growth within and outside the department.
Internationally, the Kinesiology Department has affiliations with colleges in England, Germany and Australia. Several students have gained excellent learning experiences through these transformational opportunities.

Major Responsibilities

•Serve as full-time tenure track assistant professor of Kinesiology
•Serve as coordinator of clinical education in a Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) accredited athletic training program.
•Facilitate the assessment and development of the clinical education of athletic training students.
•Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in athletic training and/or other courses assigned by the Kinesiology department chair.
•Develop an active research agenda that leads to nationally/internationally refereed publications and presentations
•Seek external funding to support research agenda
•Direct graduate/undergraduate research projects
•Provide service to the department, school, college, and university
•Work with the program director and athletic training faculty with the administration and delivery of the AT program.
•Assist with department and athletic training program recruitment events.
•Participate in professional organizations
•Advise students

Functional and Supervisory Relationships

•Reports to the academic department chair.
•Works closely with the program director and athletic training faculty in administration and delivery of the Athlethic Training Program.

Required Qualifications

•Doctorate of Athletic Training (DAT), Ph.D. in Human Performance, Kinesiology or other doctoral degree in closely related field. All but dissertation (ABD) applicants at time of application may be considered, completion required within one year of intial appointment.
•Current Board of Certification (BOC) certification and eligibility for NY State Licensure.
•National Provider Identifier (NPI) record.
•Professional clinical experience as a Certified Athletic Trainer.
•Evidence of supervision and evaluation of athletic training students.
•Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with the CAATE accreditation process.

Preferred Qualifications

•Experience with clinically-related program administration.
•Demonstrated university-level experience in teaching in the areas of athletic training and/or kinesiology at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels.
•Experience as a Coordinator of Clinical Education of an athletic training program.
•Experience with inter-professional practice and team based care.
•Experience as a clinical preceptor.
