Description

A postdoctoral position is open at the UCLA Division of Cardiology and the Broad Stem Cell Research Institute. We are a dynamic group interested in regenerative medicine and cardiovascular development, specifically in the molecular mechanism of cardiomyocyte differentiation and proliferation during development. Our research focus is to develop novel strategies for stem cell delivery for cardiovascular regeneration. The candidate should have a PhD degree and have published on relevant topics. The postdoctoral fellow will work to enhance our understanding of the molecular mechanisms of cardiac development in mouse models, and how myocytes and non-myocyte cells contribute to cardiac regeneration during development and after injury. We are seeking individuals with strong background in cardiovascular physiology, stem cell biology, genome editing, and bioinformatics. Specific responsibilities include culture and maintenance of primary and pluripotent stem cells, differentiation to cardiovascular lineage, isolation of chamber-specific cardiomyocytes, lineage tracing of myocytes and non-myocytes in transgenic mouse models, and CRISPR/Cas9 for targeted genome editing. The successful candidate will be working independently on his/her project and will be expected to analyze and publish data in a timely manner. You must have excellent scientific communication, presentation and writing skills, as well as very good critical and analytical problem-solving skills and strong work ethics.
