Departmental Overview
The Arts & Humanities Division (AHD) comprises several locations within Doe Library including the Art History/Classics Library, South and South East Asia Library, Graduate Services, and Morrison Library, as well as the separate Hargrove Music Library. AHD supports research and study in the visual and performing arts, humanities, languages, literatures, music, and area studies.

Responsibilities
This position has two main components. The first is to provide evening and weekend supervision for student library employees in all units of the Arts & Humanities Division. This includes support with troubleshooting, emergency situations, or other issues that arise. This position will be responsible for the security of all AHD units during evenings and weekends. The second component is to supervise the staffing and collections for the Art History/Classics Library. This position manages the circulation operations of the Art History/Classics Library including hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising part-time circulation student employees and performs technical processing work for the Art History/Classics library monographs, serials, binding, and other materials.

Required Qualifications
  • Customer service experience and commitment to high quality public service.
  • Supervisory experience, including hiring, training, scheduling, and/or performance management.
  • Ability to apply a broad range of policies, procedures and local practices.
  • Ability to complete detailed work accurately and complete projects on time
  • Ability to work independently and with others, including across organizational lines.
  • Competency with standard office software and equipment (such as Google Sheets or Excel equivalent)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to communicate effectively with people of various backgrounds.

    Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a library, academic library.
  • Experience supervising student employees.
  • Demonstrated ability to display a calm demeanor when assisting users or employees and/or while under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Experience working with an integrated library system such as Millennium.
  • Experience processing library collections and/or maintaining library stacks.
  • Knowledge of the disciplines of Art History or Classics
  • Ability to work with materials in languages other than English and in non-Roman alphabets
  • Awareness of legal, ethical and practical issues affecting public services in an academic library.

    Salary & Benefits
    The annual salary range of the position is $46,100 - $66,200, commensurate with experience.
