Jandon Center for Community EngagementJob Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION(S): Responsible for recruitment, liaison and project development with a network of community based organizations (CBO’s), including issue-based networks and coalitions, principally in MA and, as opportunities arise, nationally and internationally. Develop, maintain and publicize a comprehensive database of internship opportunities for students. Develop and manage systems for program communications, tracking and evaluation; coordinate these activities across the Jandon Center team.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Community Partner Network: Build new community partner networks focused on emerging issues and priorities of the Jandon Center in dialogue with community based organizations and networks. Develop and maintain relationships with a diverse set of CBO’s working on identified priority issues and geographic communities (with an emphasis on advocacy and policy). Establish regular communication, monitoring and feedback mechanisms for targeted community partners. Develop and maintain a comprehensive interactive database of community partners and projects, including a set of interdisciplinary internship opportunities. Coordinate meetings of the Jandon team, students, faculty and community partners. Coordinate program planning and communications for Jandon Center initiated colloquia. 

 

Jandon Center Projects: Track and evaluate programming and budgeting by systemizing data collection across programs, providing regular updates and ensuring accurate and ongoing feedback from Jandon partners. Coordinate Jandon team activities including, meetings and retreats and shared program scheduling. Develop and implement a center-wide integrated communications plan. Collaborate with colleagues and act as a resource to the Director in IT and/or community organizing methods. Promote the Jandon Center’s work in all activities and at all times.

 

Internships and Fellowships: Plan, implement and evolve a portfolio of student internship opportunities linked to studies in Humanities, Social Sciences and STEAM. Systematize internship and fellowship opportunities and institute a “tiered” set of placement opportunities based on CBO capacity, Jandon priorities and student learning goals. Initiate formal mechanism for CBO feedback and evaluation of student internship experiences; integrate data into overall project tracking/evaluation plan. Design and oversee Jandon strategy for recruitment and liaison with students via social media, web-based and printed materials. Research and initiate fundraising for students’ community engagement projects.

 

Perform other duties as assigned by the Director or designee.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of work in or directly with a CBO preferred or an equivalent combination of education/experience.

 

Skills: Experience developing and deploying community organizing skills and methods with significant responsibility in or with CBO’s. IT skills and experience designing systems for multi-faceted program evaluation; Demonstrated experience with a full range of social media and web-based communications tools.  Evidence of ability to initiate, nurture and maintain excellent working relationships with a complex set of campus and community partners. Experience in program development, coordination/management, implementation and evaluation. Excellence in using Office Suite, Google Docs, social media and web-based data and communications platforms.
