Primary Objective: Reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Decision Support, the Senior Research Associate plays a significant role in institutionalizing a continuous improvement and performance-based culture at City Colleges of Chicago, and ensuring fact-based accountability at program, employee and system-levels. Provides strategic data analysis, facilitates data sharing and research projects with external partners, coordinates federal and state compliance reporting activities, and supports the district and colleges in the strategic use of data. Performs related duties as required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manages internal and external long-term research projects in close coordination with Provost, Vice Chancellor of Institutional Effectiveness, Associate Vice Chancellor of Decision Support, and external research partners.
  • Provides feedback and guidance to district leadership on learning agenda projects to ensure research fits the strategic needs of CCC.
  • Facilitates data sharing agreements, including collaboration with legal department to draft and approve agreements and working with partners to create infrastructure for data sharing and collaboration.
  • Generates information to meet college needs in the areas of HLC accreditation and federal and state reporting compliance.
  • Develops systems and tools for improving the quality and timeliness of federal and state reporting activities.
  • Supports CCC data governance activities and projects aimed at improving data quality, especially in the area of compliance reporting.
  • Conducts strategic data analysis, identify insights and implications from institutional data and make strategic recommendations to executive and senior staff.
  • Develops data displays that clearly communicate complex analyses to multiple audiences, including executive and senior staff.
  • Ensures that measures are being used to effectively manage operations and effect institutional change.
  • Helps staff use data in real-time; leads data capacity building trainings on data literacy.
  • Supports development of tools, templates, and reports that address the needs of building data capacity across CCC.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Education, Social Science, Psychology, Economics, Statistics, Public Policy, Demography, or a related field using quantitative research methods.
  • Three years of relevant research experience, with demonstrated experience in quantitative and qualitative research methods and statistics.
  • A combination of education and experience may be taken into consideration based on the applicant’s credentials.
  • High level of proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with statistical analysis software such as SAS or R required
  • Experience in quantitative statistical analysis required
  • Experience in the development of performance metrics and continuous improvement systems and tools a plus
  • Familiarity with Access and SQL data query skills a plus
  • Knowledge of best practices in project management and strategic planning
  • Knowledge of research, assessment and planning activities in a higher education environment
  • Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods •Knowledge of critical issues in higher education and understanding of education performance data
