Job Summary
The Research Assistant will be responsiblefor the collection, entry, and analysis of the CAYPOS study. Specifically, the ResearchAssistant will be responsible for assisting the PI and the Research ProjectCoordinator in compiling, recording, and reporting on data collected throughthe study.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Enter data and assist with analysis.
  2. Assist the PI and Research Project Coordinator in creating and submitting reports for the funder.
  3. Secure study documents, data, and correspondence.
  4. Attend all Southern Miss and MSDH meetings regarding data collection, analysis, and dissemination.
  5. Utilize computer programs to monitor study objectives through the use of spreadsheets and data reporting and for external communications.
  6. Maintain professional image and promote research activities speaking engagements, public presentations, and written correspondence.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Masters Degree in Social Work/Public Health or related field.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Proficiencyin Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Access.
Must have computer proficiency in Microsoft Windows (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
Must have good conflict resolution skills, be professional, objective and maintain strict confidentiality.
Ability to communicate in English and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Organizational and planning skills to prioritize work, handle multiple tasks simultaneously and take initiative.
Works independently with little direct supervision.
Interacts with difficult situations while maintaining composure.
Able to work cooperatively as a member of a team.
Able to work under stress in a fast-paced environment.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check, drug screen and physical assessment.
Must be willing to do local and out-of-state travel.
Must be able to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 10 lbs routinely.

Preferred Qualifications
Masters in Social Work and two to three years experience with institutional research.
