The Associate Director of Career Coaching in the Career & Leadership for MBA & Alumni department coaches MBA students in the Full-Time MBA program at UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School that are seeking jobs in a variety of industries. An understanding of the MBA career landscape is helpful in this role and experience in the technology field is a plus. The Associate Director reports to the Director of Career Coaching within the Career & Leadership for MBA & Alumni department.

The Associate Director plans and delivers career planning and job search programming to MBA students in small-group formats, workshops and large classroom/auditorium presentations. The Associate Director will also manage and/or participate in several career management-related initiatives and events throughout the year. International students is a critical part of our MBA population and the Associate Director will be involved in planning and delivering programs to support international students throughout the recruiting process.
The position will work collaboratively with staff within Career Coaching, Leadership Development, Employer Engagement & Recruiting, as well as numerous key departments across the School, like Business Partnerships, BSBA Career Management, MAC Career Management, MBA Student Engagement, MBA Admissions, Centers of Excellence and others.

Educational Requirements

An undergraduate degree is required. A master’s degree in a relevant field, such as an MBA from a top 30 business school, is strongly preferred.

Qualifications and Experience

-Candidate should have at least 3 years of post-undergraduate relevant work experience in a corporate or graduate academic setting.
-Demonstrated knowledge of career management and talent development and some leadership development programming is a plus. Experience with coaching/managing professionals/leaders in industry, consulting with MBA students one-on-one, career mapping, program management, corporate recruiting, facilitation and/or training is a plus.
-Critical skills include: the ability to build internal and external relationships with broad constituencies; a demonstrated commitment to customer service; and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment. The candidate must have strong writing and verbal skills, and be able to communicate effectively with a diverse population of high-performing individuals.
-Candidate should possess excellent public speaking skills and be able to address students and other constituencies in small-group settings, workshops and classroom/auditorium presentations.
-The successful applicant will have a strong comfort level working in a fast-paced, energetic environment, and be able to multitask and meet multiple deadlines. —Candidate must also demonstrate initiative as well as project or event management skills, possess an entrepreneurial orientation, and have a proven track record of results-oriented achievement.
-Candidates must be able to work evenings on an alternating basis, and be able to travel up to 15%, to support various job-related functions.
