DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision, the incumbent will conduct complex studies in molecular and cellular research. Incumbent will be responsible for analyzing scientific data, design experiments using theoretical knowledge, conduct molecular and cellular experiments, and write manuscripts and proposals.

This individual will guide graduate and undergraduate students on their research. Incumbent will also develop high-throughput technologies for mapping molecular interactions, conduct live cell imaging experiments, studying disease mechanisms, and developing new drug candidates.

The incumbent will work independently to make determinations and design experiments using theoretical knowledge.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of biology, biochemistry, and molecular biology attained through a Bachelors degree in biochemistry, genetics/genomics, molecular biology or related field OR an equivalent combination of education and laboratory experience.

  • Extensive experience in data recording, data analysis, interpretation, diagnosis, and documentation preparation.

  • Strong research laboratory experience with techniques including cell culture and molecular biology methods.

  • Proven ability to independently participate in the execution of research projects of porions. Experience independently planning, organizing, and performing experiments and selecting data for analysis.

  • Proven ability to develop, follow, and troubleshoot established lab protocols and lab procedures with limited direction from PI.

  • Strong experience with cell culture, cell characterization assays, and molecular biology methods.

  • Extensive experience in data recording, data analysis, interpretation, diagnosis, and documentation preparation.

  • Strong research laboratory experience with techniques including cell culture and molecular biology methods.

  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and edit scientific papers, manuscripts, and lab data.

  • Demonstrated experience in analysis and management of complex data, including experimental designs.

  • Experience overseeing research projects.

  • Excellent communication and record keeping skills.

  • Ability to interface appropriately (with diplomacy and in confidentiality) with campus staff and investigators.

  • Ability to train other lab members in the lab and have experience in this training.

  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities and to organize a varied workload to meet deadlines despite frequent interruptions.

  • Proven ability to develop, follow, and and trouble shoot established lab protocols and lab procedures with limited direction from PI.

  • Demonstrated ability to independently establish objectives, set priorities, plan, direct and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to coordinate teleconferences and meetings, prepare documentation.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • DOJ and FBI background check required.

  • Willing to work with hazardous materials (biological and chemical) and animals.

  • Willing and able to work flexible hours with some weekends as needed.
