What You Should KnowMost of the travel for this position takes place during the academic year; all twelve CUUB partner high schools (across a five-state target area) must be visited twice per semester to satisfy UB grant requirements. The academic year also requires the Assistant Director to update the CUUB website, track and log all student services through Blumen software, monitor outreach & learning systems (SignalVine mass text messaging and OnTrack e-learning modules), attend various professional development trainings (focusing on both DOE topics and higher education more generally), and researching effective strategies for onboarding staff and implementing grant services. The academic year provides the time for reflection, improvement and preparation for the coming year’s summer program (which includes substantial updates to the CUUB summer employee handbooks, consistent with federal and University of Colorado child protection guidelines), while also balancing the effective delivery of all grant funded student services.
The summer component of the program is an intensive seven-week commitment with hours that require flexibility. Upward Bound provides fundamental support to participants in their preparation for college entrance. The program provides opportunities for participants to succeed in pre-college performance and ultimately in higher education pursuits.
