(Contingent upon available funding):14.31 - 14.31, Hourly Work Schedule:Various Job Summary:Job Function: The Scholarship Specialist position will serve as the campus expert on all institutional and external tuition waiver and scholarship awards and is directly responsible for processing internal and external tuition waivers and scholarships such as Tribal, Oklahoma’s Promise, OSU-OKC Foundation scholarships, and the Oklahoma State Regents.Selected candidate will work closely with the state regents, private agencies, high schools, tribal agencies, OSU-OKC Foundation, Business Office, and Division Heads (administrative assistants) and would serve as Co-Chair for the Scholarship Committee.This position will also serve as backup for Financial Aid Specialists during times of absences and/or lunch periods. Essential Job Functions:
- Serves as the initial contact for students/parents with scholarship questions Serves as Co-Chair of the OSU-OKC Scholarship CommitteeProcessing applications and forms necessary for receipt of scholarship funding.Responsible for reconciling funds received for tribal, state, and private sources. Reconciliation may be on and individual or fund basis.Works with academic divisions to process institutional aid offers.Establishes new and updates existing procedures used in daily job requirements.Develop/maintain working knowledge of federal aid guidelines governing coordination of student resources with federal aid. Responsible for updating procedures, when necessary, to ensure consistency with changes in federal, state, and institution guidelines.Participates in seminars or public relations events relative to Scholarships. Will serve as a back up to the Customer Service Area as needed. Completes all mandatory training plus two professional development each year.Performs other duties as assigned.
Applicant must have a minimumof two years’ experience in post-secondary Financial Aid administration with anemphasis in Scholarship processing. Knowledge, Skills, andAbilities:
- Ability to handlemultiple task and prioritize effectivelyComprehensiveknowledge of federal guidelines governing the coordination of institutional,state, or private aid in conjunction with federal aidDemonstratedabilities of identifying and resolving over awards resulting from addition ofprivate, state, or institutional scholarships to student aid packages.High degree ofintegrity; ability to work in a sensitive, highly confidential and professionalenvironmentMust be adaptableto performing under moderate levels of stress, imposed by frequent deadlines,peak workloads and public/student contact.Ability tocommunicate diplomatically, clearly and effectively, both verbally and inwriting to exchange information, give/receive instructions and respond toinquiries appropriately.Strong interpersonalskills and sensitivity to a multicultural environment in an effort to work andcommunicate effectively with all students, faculty, staff and communitypartners. Demonstratedknowledge of office technologies including but not limited to: office computers,fax machines, scanners, internet, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access,PowerPoint, Outlook).Accuratetyping/data entry skills and demonstrated ability to work with attention todetail.Ability to work independently and collaborate within a teamenvironment.Exhibits problem-solving skills beyond a set of instructions and adaptto changes when necessary.Ability to make appropriate recommendations based on logical andjustifiable reasoning.Ability to use analytical and critical thinking skills to interpretwritten policies and procedures.Passion for assisting customers and representing the OSU brand withpositivity and professionalismEvidences a history of demonstrating ethical and professional behavior
Associate’s Degree preferred Working Conditions:
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include some evenings and weekends in an often times busy and noisy environment.Work performed in an office environment with a significant amount of public contact, in person, by telephone and via email.
- During peak, enrollment and processing periods must be able to handle high volume of phone calls and student inquiries. Duties require extended periods of sitting, standing, talking and listening and computer usage.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds
