Associate Grant and Contract Specialist
DescriptionReporting tothe Assistant Vice President of Research Administration, the Associate Grantand Contract Specialist is responsible for providing support for the managementof pre-award activities for assigned schools and colleges. The incumbent servesin an essential support role in activities involving the Divisionof Research Administration within the Office of the Vice President forResearch, research faculty and research administrators in the assigned schoolsand colleges. Assists in provision of research administration services,including pre-award activities, the processing of research grants, contractsand agreements, research compliance activities, training of faculty and staffin all aspects of grantsmanship. Assists in providing direct proposal developmentassistance to faculty and other research investigators. Works with school andcollege research and administrative staff regarding review of contract bidrequirements, maintenance and updating of government regulations, Universitypolicies, financial statements, contract and grant follow-up procedures, withoutside funding sources. Participates in development/enhancement of proceduresto provide quality of service. Helps facilitate acquisition and management ofextramural support from government, non-profit, and industrial/corporatesources for faculty and other researchers. Assists in the implementation of theelectronic research administration system (eRA) for managing all phases ofcontracts and grants. Assists in the establishment of priorities and ensuringall projects are completed in a timely fashion. Performs other duties asrequired. RequiredEducation & Experience: Bachelor'sdegree and at least three years of related experience. An equivalentcombination of education and experience may be considered. RequiredSkills & Abilities:*Demonstratedcomputer skills, and proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, database andpresentation software programs.
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
*Demonstrated organizational skills, along with the ability to complete tasksin an accurate and timely manner under numerous, often conflicting, prioritiesand deadlines.
*Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
*Strong problem solving skills.
