 Job Summary:
The University of Colorado Denver l Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking applications for a Dental Care II in Family Practice. This full-time, University Staff (non-classified) will assist and provide four-handed chair side dental assistance to the School of Dental Medicine faculty conducting patient care services to the general community and the Anschutz Medical Campus; greets and dismiss patients; patient preparation and positioning, clinical are preparation, use of sterile techniques and performing infection control procedures; perform and develop dental radiographs.

Examples of Work Performed:
  • Assist faculty in all specialized areas of fourhanded dentistry, which include, but not limited to preventive, surgical, periodontal, orthodontic, restorative, and all other related procedures.
  • Assist in giving oral hygiene and post-operative instructions
  • Monitor and maintain patient charts, all essential forms, treatment schedules and appointments for faculty
  • Perform simple data entry on computer regarding scheduling and ADA procedure codes
  • Assist faculty in the management of patients who are medical compromised, handicapped or combative
  • Perform dental intraoral and extraoral radiographs using appropriate technique, x-ray-equipment and safety equipment
  • Develop, mounts and identifies radiographic films
  • Have comprehensive knowledge of dental materials, their use, maintenance and storage
  • Perform lab work, such as pouring and trimming casts, fabrication of custom x-rays, bleach trays, etc.
  • Prepare specialized instrument set-ups for faculty to use during dental patient treatment
  • Perform appropriate aseptic and sterilization techniques
  • Determine when instruments or supplies need to be replaced; determine what instruments will be needed for each procedures.
  • May work in other SDM clinics outside of the Dental Faculty Practice as determined by the director of DFP
  •  PLEASE NOTE: Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.

    Salary and Benefits:

  •  Hiring Salary Range: $2,971-$3,582 / month (non-negotiable)* 
  • *The salary offered is usually the minimum listed, however, a salary above the minimum may be offered for some hard to fill positions.
    This position is eligible for overtime compensation.

    QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:

    • Two (2) years of dental assisting experience


    • Successful completion of an accredited dental assisting program may substitute for one year of experience.

    Necessary- Special Qualifications:

    • Must possess current valid CPR and/or BLS certification. Proof of certification MUST be attached to application materials no later than the closing date listed in the announcement. Failure to do so may prevent you from competing in subsequent measures used to arrive at a top group of applicants.

    Conditions of Employment: 

    • Must be willing and able to stand for long periods of time while working.
    • Must be willing and able to reach, crouch, stoop, and kneel on a frequent basis

    • Must be willing and able to lift and carry objects on a frequent basis.

  • Experience working with faculty, staff, and students in a higher education and/or academic medical environment.
