This is an hourly-intermittent temporary position anticipated to end on or before June 30, 2020. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs. While candidates may be requested to work per diem shifts throughout the standard work hours, per diem staffing is typically needed for 4 to 32 hours of coverage per month, though this varies based on operational needs and availability of per diem team members.

Incumbents perform the full range of general licensed pharmacist duties. In smaller and/or less complex Student Health Center pharmacies that require only one regular or full-time pharmacist, incumbents may be responsible for some or all aspects of pharmacy administration, which may include serving as the Pharmacist-in-Charge, as defined and required by the California State Board of Pharmacy.

The Pharmacist I performs the full range of general license pharmacist duties, including consulting with the prescriber and patient; identifying, evaluating and interpreting prescriptions; acquiring, compounding and dispensing medications, vaccines and other therapeutic agents; and ensuring pharmacy programs and operations and the delivery of pharmacy services are in compliance with established professional standards and applicable federal and state regulations. Incumbents often serve as a staff pharmacist, but may be responsible for some or all aspects of pharmacy administration in Student Health Center pharmacies that are smaller and/or have less complex operations as these pharmacies often need only one regular or full-time pharmacist. Assignment of administrative responsibilities may include serving as the Pharmacist-in-Charge, as defined and required by the California State Board of Pharmacy.

Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $45.00 per hour. CSU Classification Salary Range: $19.92 - $84.86 per hour. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

This salary range is inclusive of the CSU/CSUEU collective bargaining agreement (CBA) provision that per diem employees hired on an hourly/intermittent basis receive an additional 29% above the regular hourly base rate.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) college of pharmacy program or other program recognized by the board as defined by the California State Board of Pharmacy. Equivalent to one year of experience as a licensed pharmacist working independently.

Preferred Qualifications and Specialized Skills

  • Ability to work well with others under times of stress and pressure.
  • Ability to make accurate observations and exercise correct judgment within the areas of assigned responsibility.
  • At least six (6) months experience as a Registered Pharmacist.
  • Familiarity with the California Family Pact program.
  • Experience using Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Possess and maintain a valid pharmacist license as defined and required by the California State Board of Pharmacy.
