Position SummaryKnowledge and expansive experience in office management, supervision; budget preparation, financial and administrative record-keeping; human resources/personnel actions; experience in performing responsibilities related to the operational activities of an academic unit.

This position serves as Fiscal Officer and is responsible for the financial and administrative functions of the unit, including fiscal year budget planning, financial transactions and approval; monitoring and reconciling accounts, subaccounts, and financial reporting. Responsible for post-award administration of ~30 grants. Facilitates communication of space renovations and facility maintenance. Oversees department equipment inventory. Human Resource responsibilities including Staffing Coordinator for position postings, appointment processing for faculty, staff and students; unit time administrator; payroll forms processing and approval; working with OISS for visa processing. Works closely with Graduate Director to establish and fill graduate teaching assignments. Oversees summer school budget and appointments. This position supervises, coordinates and assists staff conducting day to day operations and academic year planning.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/SkillsKnowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year degree program in a business-related field; experience and/or knowledge related to MSU policies and procedures; experience in budget preparation; visa processing experience; five to eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in office procedures and administration, or in performing responsibilities related to the operational activities of the employing unit; experience in supervising/managing other employees; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in business; experience and/or knowledge related to MSU policies and procedures; visa processing experience; experience in budget preparation; more than three years’ experience in supervising/managing other employees; experience in SAP/Kuali Finance, Cognos and Business Intelligence systems; visa processing experience; ability to prioritize and work with minimal supervision and meet deadlines; demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to work in a diverse environment.
