Position Summary

The Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences (LCS) at Michigan State University, College of Veterinary Medicine (MSU, CVM) invites application for the position of Assistant Professor in Large Animal Medicine. This position is being offered as a Health Programs (HP) faculty position with the title of Clinician – Equine Primary Care/Comparative Large Animal Theriogenology. HP appointments are unique to Michigan State University’s Colleges of Human, Osteopathic, Veterinary Medicine and Nursing, and were created to enhance programs in clinical education, patient care services and clinical research.

The successful candidate will become part of a dynamic and innovative team that is committed to world-class research, outreach and training to meet the needs of the large animal industry. Candidates must have a veterinary medical degree (DVM or equivalent), be eligible for licensing in the State of Michigan (an academic license option exists) and be eligible for American College of Theriogenology (ACT) Board Certification within one year of hire.

This appointment will be a fixed term appointment. Continued reappointment is anticipated. Applied research is encouraged and supported.

The successful candidate is expected to provide instruction to students participating in clinical and didactic teaching for large animal theriogenology and primary care.

Maintaining excellent communication and a positive relationship with the MSU Horse Farm, faculty, and clients of VMC is expected and developing collaborations with other CVM/MSU faculty on applied research projects is strongly encouraged.

Required Degree

Doctorate -DVM

Minimum Requirements

Candidates must have a veterinary medical degree (CVM or equivalent) and be eligible for licensing in the State of Michigan (an academic license option exists). Experience with equine primary care clinical instruction is required and candidate must be eligible for ACT Board Certification within one year of hire.
