Job Summary

We are currently seeking skilled and team-oriented applicants for the following position: Advisor/Recruiter

The position of Advisor/Recruiter reports directly to the Operations Manager – Running Start. This position provides advisement, recruitment and other support services to high school students participating in EWU’s Running Start program. Responsibilities also include providing transitional support for students from high school to admitted status at the university. The advisor/recruiter also represents EWU and the Running Start program to prospective students, families, and high school professionals.

Conditions of Employment
  • Willingness to travel, including occasional overnight travel to represent EWU Dual Credit programs, to consult students, parents, and high school professionals.

Successful applicant will be required to pass a background check for continued employment.

This position is covered by the Public School Employees’ Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Two years’ full time work experience in one or more of the following areas within an academic work environment:
    • recruitment, advising, or registration in a high school setting or higher education OR
    • experience in a high school administration OR
    • experience in administrative support in higher education OR
    • teaching experience in a high school setting OR
    • providing student support services in either high school or higher education settings OR
    • other closely related experience
    • Experience working in a team-oriented environment
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures involved in recruiting/advising at an institution of high education
  • Candidate must demonstrate interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility and/or diversity.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in education or related field
  • Experience in the use of complex, multi-dimensional information systems; for example, campus server systems, student information systems and/or financial records systems.
  • Experience using Banner
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Bilingual

PROGRAM ADVISING

  • Serve as an academic advisor for Running Start schools and participating students
  • Identify high school graduation requirements using equivalency guides to assist with course selection
  • Educate students regarding college graduation expectations and requirements
  • Monitor student progress toward high school requirements
  • Communicate student progress with high school counselors
  • Communicate student progress with parents/guardians as appropriate
  • Coordinate with English and math departments to schedule placement testing
  • Participate in ongoing training in academic advising
  • Attend yearly counselor workshop and Running Start state and local meetings
  • Promote student participation in EWU campus opportunities
  • Track student enrollment in Running Start courses and credits through EWU
  • Maintain Excel spreadsheets and report trends and changes in the Running Start enrollment and growth to director
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
