A GMOA gallery guide enforces museum security policies and general orders for the well being of staff and patrons and the protection of the works of art.
Energetic individual to assist the visitors and staff in providing information and crowd control, maintaining vigilance over GMOA property, protecting the works of art from accidental damage while allowing staff and visitors appropriate access, and making timely notification to the Supervisory Security Officer for medical or other related issues.
Gallery Guides are assigned to stationary and static positions.
Gallery Guides understand access control systems, safety systems and know locations of emergency exits in the event of an emergency.
Gallery Guides are the first point of contact with museum guests and are expected to promote museum programing and to provide assistance to museum guests.
Gallery Guides maintain effective working relationships with all members of museum community including students, faculty, staff, docents, and visitors.
Gallery Guides are knowledgeable of pedestrian traffic flow, recognize unusual situations and effect prompt and proper requests for assistance.
They utilize a radio for communication and keys for access.
Remain on feet for a minimum of 3.5 hours at a time.
Moderate physical activity.
Stoop, kneel, crouch, lift, carry, push, pull, climb, and walk.
Exert up to thirty pounds of force frequently or constantly lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
Operate office equipment, keys, radio, telephone, computer etc.
