Preferred QualificationsPosition SummaryThis is manual work at the journeyman level in the fabrication and repair of furniture and cabinets. Methods of performing tasks are usually left to the judgment of the employee with a supervisor available for assistance if needed. In this position the employee is responsible for the construction and maintenance of cabinets, tables, shelves, desks, bookcases, bulletin boards, chairs and other wooden fixtures. Work is inspected for satisfactory compliance with instructions, although routine repairs and construction are usually made independently without supervision or review.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies*Considerable knowledge of the standard practices, methods, materials, and tools of the cabinet making trade.
*Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
*Ability to plan, layout, and perform cabinetry work of average difficulty.
*Ability to work from sketches and blue prints.
*Skill in the care and use of hand and bench tools and equipment of the carpentry trade.
*Standing, walking, lifting, stooping, crawling, squatting, climbing stairs, working from a standard and/or extended ladder and lifting up to 75lbs.
*Most work performed in buildings.
