Classification TitlePost-Doctoral Associate ADFLSAExemptUGA Job CodeJob FamilyFTE1.00Minimum QualificationsPosition Summary

The postdoctoral research associate will work on a new project to elucidate the mechanism that maintains permissive chromatin in embryonic stem cells which is required for stem cell self-renewal and differentiation. The Ivanova lab has recently identified two novel proteins, Dppa2 and Dppa4, that play a key role in resetting the chromatin to a pluripotent configuration during cellular reprogramming (PMID: 30146411). Our new unpublished data indicate that Dppa2/4 are also required during stem cell differentiation to ensure correct execution of lineage-specific programs. The candidate will be leading efforts to define the mechanism of action for these two genes using genetic, biochemical and bioinformatics approaches including human embryonic stem cell culture, CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, single-cell RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq, mass-spectrometry and immunofluorescence studies. The candidate will be expected to prepare oral and written reports, write manuscripts and maintain detailed records of the research. The candidate will travel to one relevant scientific meeting per year to present the results to a broader stem cell research community.
