Description:

The Student Success Advisor I will advise students on course selection, degree programs, campus resources, and career options based on students' academic skills, interests, and abilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Advise students in special populations including, but not limited to, learning support students, new and continuing undeclared students, and conditionally admitted students.
  • Assist students in developing and executing a recovery plan to return to satisfactory academic progress.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to current and prospective students on topics related to academic success.
  • Ensure that essential standards of advising consistency and quality are met.
  • Serve on institutional committees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • One year of experience working with students in a college setting
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Strong sense of professional ethics
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the Internet
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information and records
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate Degree In counseling, education, or related field
  • Experience with BANNER
  • Fluent in Spanish

Position may require local travel. Ability to lift and carry files and materials. Ability to move from one office to another office on campus.
