The Program Coordinator assists and advises the Center Director on administrative, programming and communications issues for all Center activities and programs; oversees and coordinates administrative elements of the Center’s Martindale Student Associates Honors Program, including planning and participating in international research trips; oversees and implements external communications, including creating content, with global business and government leaders as well as with the Center’s alumni and friends; manages online and social media presence of the Center; facilitates the Center’s conferences, workshops, and publications; assists, as needed, Center-affiliated faculty and student clubs.

Accountabilities:
  1. Program management
    • Assist and advise the Center Director on general Center administrative issues
    • Participate and advise in strategic and program planning
    • Collect, research, compile data and prepare reports
    • Supervise work study and other student and wage workers and volunteers
    • Serve as an administrative liaison with external organizations and other Lehigh University departments and programs
    • Periodically review and recommend improvements to existing Center activities
    • Oversee and coordinate administrative elements of the Martindale Student Associates Honors Program
  2. Communications, development and marketing
    • Oversee communications issues for all Center activities and programs
    • Manage online and social media presence of the Center
    • Develop and implement print and digital communications strategies
    • Develop informational and promotional materials and reports
    • Create written content
    • Assist and advise the Center Director in preparing grant and other funding applications
    • Oversee design and production of Center publications and digital content
  3. International research trip planning
    • Coordinate and assist in planning international research trips
    • Assist and make recommendations to the Center Director in identifying target countries of study, main program elements, trip agenda and travel logistics
    • Participate in international research trips to lead on-the-ground logistics; involves traveling abroad up to 2-4 weeks annually
    • Maintain network of consulate officials
  4. Support for faculty, students and Alumni
    • Occasionally support Center-affiliated faculty and visitors, on as-needed basis
    • Facilitate activities of Center-affiliated student organizations and their faculty mentors
    • Build lasting relationships with students and Alumni
    • Develop and implement strategies for Alumni engagement and fundraising
  5. Event, conference and workshop administration
    • Oversee and plan major Center events
    • Facilitate and assist faculty in conceptualizing and organizing conferences and workshops
    • Coordinate planning with external program partners
    • Develop and implement communication strategies to enhance attendance and post-conference visibility
Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's Degree in Economics, policy, international or business related field; Master’s Degree preferred
  2. Three to five years related work experience
  3. Experience in program administration
  4. Experience in planning international travel preferred
  5. Experience organizing conferences or similar events
  6. Demonstrated ability to interact with high level business and political leaders
  7. Social media savvy a must
  8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  9. Excellent writing ability and organizational skills
  10. Solid analytical, decision making and problem solving skills
  11. Solid computer skills with experience using word processing and spreadsheet software
  12. Successful completion of standard background checks including but not limited to: social security verification, education verification, county and national criminal background checks, PATCH, FBI fingerprinting, Child Abuse Clearance. Based upon the requirements of the position Lehigh may also request credit history reports, motor vehicle checks and professional license/certification verification
Special Considerations:
  • This position has fiscal or financial responsibilities other than employee expense activity, such as processing or approving transactions; monitoring or preparing budgets; or generating income for University
  • Occasional evening hours; weekly 1 hour 5-6 PM dinners during the academic year; occasional events
  • Occasional travel; traveling abroad up to 2-4 weeks annually
