Position Summary Information

Primary Purpose

Responsible for planning, management, implementation and evaluation of Annual Giving mass outreach programs and initiatives. Programs and initiatives include but are not limited to: Phonathon / Call Center, Direct Mail, Email, Day of Giving, Crowdfunding and Student Philanthropy. Conducts collaborative development activities within a team structure and in the best interest of University donors and prospects. Secure new and retain existing donors to achieve key performance indications as aligned with long term strategic planning.

Essential Functions

1.Develops the operational plans and guides implementation and analysis of annual giving programs and solicitation efforts
•Establishes dollar and participation goals for assigned program areas/solicitations and plans how to achieve annual goals.
•Develops messaging for use throughout assigned program/fundraising channel or initiative and aligned staff and volunteers.
•Provides timely financial and implementation progress updates and donor response analysis.
•Evaluate program activities and results based on data analysis and makes changes in a responsive fashion both during the program and in follow-up in order to improve results.

2. Manages and executes assigned program plans, including recruiting, training, and supervising, evaluating student calling staff, volunteers and other identified advocates. Strategically designs messaging, materials, and provides oversight of related program budget.
•Administers employment or volunteer paperwork processing; employee relations actions; pay adjustments; planning, organizing, and scheduling work/volunteer sessions; and ensures processing of recorded time for payroll purposes.
•Motivates, monitors, coaches, and evaluates staff and volunteers ensuring high caliber performance.
•Develops a retention strategy to motivate and reward high quality staff and volunteers to include coordinating solicitation and stewardship activities for volunteers and student employees.

3.Works with Annual Giving Team members, Development Officers, and/or others representing colleges or units to plan and conduct appeals and Annual Giving initiatives as well as managing a small portfolio of face-to-face prospects focused on raising gifts ranging from $1,000 up to $10K.

4.Trains and oversees staff managing Phonathon software, including calling pool segmentation, calling assignments, and analysis of progress to identify areas for improvement; reviews reports on results and mentors staff on call quality and adjusting strategy as needed.

5.Executes assigned aspects of the Annual Giving strategic plan ensuring operational timetables are developed and revised annually.
•Develops and oversees activities of direct mail and e-solicitation programs. Provides vendors with appropriate data, content writing/editing, and ensuring adherence to quality standards and timelines for campaigns.
•Works with Advancement Services to develop Direct Marketing solicitation lists, process for receiving gifts, and reporting of activity
•Works with University Marketing to ensure print and digital presence is aligned with University branding standards.

6.Oversees the Crowdfunding program
•Encourages partnerships with campus groups and others representing colleges and units to utilize crowdfunding platform. Identifies and collaborates with Project Leads to develop and implement solicitation strategy.
•Leads communications and coordination between University staff, crowdfunding project managers, and outside vendors to ensure that fundraising goals are met.
•Assists in design of messaging per channel for specific audiences per projects and oversees project leads in managing timelines and schedules.

7.Oversees the Student Philanthropy Program and solicitation actions in support of the Tiger Gift Campaign, ensures optimal recruiting and training of student volunteers is realized to support activities and events.

8.Manage vendor relationships and associated budgets with vendors to implement components of Program.

9.Ensures timely updates are made to website and other supporting promotional platforms on behalf of the assigned annual giving philanthropy programs.

10.Participates in University meeting, events and donor receptions to engage annual giving donors and colleagues. Develops effective partnerships throughout the University to enhance the understanding of philanthropy and the benefits of annual giving.

11.Maintains knowledge of campus-wide activities that would be of interest to prospects and possible collaboration opportunities for student philanthropy.

12.Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Qualifications

•Bachelor’s degree, and Two (2) years’ work experience in fundraising function.

Preferred Qualifications

Education/Experience/Certifications:
•Three (3) years or more in an annual giving or other fundraising role. Program or event planning experience desired. Degree in Marketing, Communications or English.

Skills/Knowledge and Expertise:
•High comfort level with data, data analysis, and database software.
•Experience analyzing gift appeal response results.
•Knowledge of fundraising principles and able to participate in a complex development program, especially within an educational organization.
•Solid verbal communication skills, as well as advanced writing, editing and proofreading skills.
•Skill to use a personal computer and software programs at the level of sophistication required for the Annual Giving Office. Proven ability to use MS Office Suite, which includes Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Microsoft Outlook; and University database programs.
•Knowledge of Campus Call or other automated phonathon software.
•Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
•Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team and to work collaboratively with other Development and Pacific staff to achieve defined goals.
•Encompass traits of good judgment, confidentiality and discretion in communicating with colleagues and constituents.
•Initiative to organize and follow through with tasks to meet deadlines.
•Positive attitude, proven ability to work successfully with diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to promote and enhance diversity and inclusion.

Work Environment/Work Week/Travel
Work is primarily performed in a standard office environment with use of computer and phone. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule. Occasional travel may be required.

Valid driver’s license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the University’s fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business. The University and its insurance carrier reserves the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record.
