Under the guidance of the director of Diablo Valley College Community Education (CE), deliver quality instruction to youth entering grades 4-9, at the Diablo Valley College (DVC) Pleasant Hill and San Ramon campuses. This is a part-time, seasonal, hourly, position.
Diablo Valley College Community Education is recruiting instructors for our summer College for Kids program. We are interested in hiring currently enrolled teacher training programs, graduate students, retired faculty, public school teachers, faculty or recent graduates with either a Master’s or Ph.D.
Each summer we offer academically-enriching classes for grades 4-6 and grades 7-9 at our Pleasant Hill and San Ramon campuses. Our summer includes two sessions, each three weeks in length, between mid-June and July 31st. Classes are offered Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 12:50 and 4:10 p.m. You still get to enjoy 4-day weekends!
We are searching for passionate and talented teachers or students in a credentialed teaching program to teach the following topics:
• Algebra (grades 7-9)
• Creative Writing (grades 7-9)
• Digital Filmmaking (grades 7-9)
• Drawing (grades 4-6 and 7-9)
• Watercolor (grades 4-6 and 7-9)
• Math (grades 4-6)
• Web Design (grades 4-6 and 7-9)
• Geometry (grades 7-9)
• Coding and Robotics (grades 4-6 and 7-9)
• Digital Art (grades 4-6 and 7-9)
• MakerSpace (grades 7-9)
• Physics for Kids (grades 4-6)
• General Science (grades 4-6)
• Chemistry (grades 7-9)

These are hourly, seasonal, part-time positions. Pay starts at $23.80/hour or DOE for the hours you are pre-scheduled to teach. Mandatory, paid, 1.5 hours orientations will be scheduled in May and on June 18, 2019. Most classes already have a syllabus and some teaching materials prepared.
