UNC’s Kenan-Flagler Business School is a nationally ranked professional business school. Kenan-Flagler offers a range of professional and academic degree programs, including BSBA, full-time MBA, Executive MBA, MBA@UNC, Master of Accounting, and PhD. Beyond its research efforts and degree programs, Kenan-Flagler also directs and maintains the Frank Hawkins Kenan Institute for Private Enterprise, the Kenan Conference Center, the Wachovia Center for Corporate Finance, and International Programs office and the Paul J. Rizzo Conference Center, which houses its nationally-ranked executive education programs.

The Senior Data Architect position will serve as a key resource in enhancing and maintaining our enterprise data warehouse here at Kenan Flagler. This individual will work with key stakeholders, business partners, and IT counterparts to define requirements, identify source data, assist with detailed data models, analyze and validate data, troubleshoot data issues, and promote data quality. S/he directly supports data integration efforts (within the data warehouse, data marts, ad-hoc queries, and data services) by providing services that ensure Kenan Flagler is aligning IT efforts with business information needs.
The selected candidate will be part of the team to review, analyze, modify, and create ETLs, testing, debugging, integration and implementation processes. Tasks will also include documenting technical needs for ETL processes and databases, and ensuring optimal technical infrastructure is utilized.

The selected candidate will be responsible for expanding and optimizing our data and data pipeline architecture, as well as optimizing data flow and collection for cross functional teams. The selected candidate must be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems and products. The role requires the applicant to be a hands-on data architect and business analyst. This position will report to the DIA (Data Integration and Analytics) Director.

Educational Requirements

Master’s and 1-2 years’ experience or Bachelors and 2-4 years’ experience or will accept a combination of related education and experience in substitution.

Qualifications and Experience

Strongly preferred:
5 years’ experience – DBA (Data Base Administrator)
3 years’ experience – Data Warehousing
3 years’ experience – ETL
3 years’ experience with Microsoft SQL Server preferred

And strongly preferred demonstrated previous experience in the following:
-RDBMS, star schema
-SQL, strong skills, complex queries
-ETL
-Data Integration
-Data governance and meta data management
-Kimball methodology
-Deep experience with Data Architecture and Database Design
-Data Security, Integrity and Access Control protocols
-BI tools, Dashboards, and enterprise level reporting tools (e.g. Tableau, SSRS)

Location: UNC is located in the heart of Chapel Hill, the best college town in America! It's a friendly town of about 40,000 in the geographical center of North Carolina. Chapel Hill is at the western point of the Research Triangle, an area of about one million people, comprised of Chapel Hill, the cities of Durham and Raleigh, and the Research Triangle Park, home of many corporate offices and scientific research centers. Carolina is about 30 miles from the state capital, Raleigh, and 20 minutes from Raleigh-Durham International Airport.

Chapel Hill's main street, Franklin Street, borders the campus and offers shops, coffee houses, cafés, movie theaters and houses of worship. The town has a historic district, museum, library, parks, malls, and many recreational facilities.
