Position Summary

The Title IX Coordinator is responsible for managing the College’s compliance with federal and state sex and gender discrimination laws, including Title IX, the Violence Against Women’s Act, the Illinois Preventing Sexual Violence in Higher Education Act, the Illinois Human Rights Act and the Clery Act. Reporting jointly to the Vice President of Student Affairs/Dean of Students and the Director of Human Resources, the Title IX Coordinator works to keep current and implement the College’s Sexual Discrimination and Misconduct Policy, and to support a safe and respectful environment for all campus constituents.

Position Responsibilities

The person holding this half-time position is specifically responsible for the following key duties:

  • Working with the College’s administration to update, revise and implement its Sexual Misconduct Policy and Sexual Misconduct Complaint Resolution Procedures.
  • Coordinating student outreach and educational programs regarding sexual misconduct prevention and available resources and processes.
  • Coordinating in-service training to employees regarding reporting obligations, sexual misconduct prevention, and available resources and processes, as well as annual training for staff and faculty involved in the investigation, adjudication, or appeal of complaints.
  • Responding to, investigating, and seeking resolutions of sexual misconduct reports and complaints and ensuring a fair and neutral process for all parties.
  • Meet with complainants and respondents to provide information regarding available campus and community resources, supportive measures, and reporting and resolution options.
  • Overseeing all state and federal compliance requirements related to sexual misconduct and discrimination and submitting all required reports.
  • Maintaining a master tracking document of all sexual misconduct and discrimination reports received by the College and monitoring and addressing any trends or systemic issues.
  • Periodically surveying campus climate on sexual misconduct.
  • Maintaining the College’s sexual misconduct website and developing, updating, and distributing resources for the campus community on sexual misconduct.
  • Serving on campus committees related to sexual misconduct prevention and response.
  • Working with community agencies to deliver services and trainings to the College community.


Required Qualifications

The successful candidate will have the ability to build trust and work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and community partners in a culturally diverse environment. The chosen candidate must have attention to detail and strong organizational skills, including the ability to work independently to manage and prioritize multiple projects. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to analyze data required. Experience in developing and delivering training programs for faculty, students, and staff on Title IX and sexual misconduct preferred. Experience in conducting sexual misconduct investigations is essential. Must have strong counseling and negotiation skills, and ability to maintain confidentiality, be resourceful and use discretion. A demonstrated working knowledge of Title IX and related laws, including a clear understanding of current developments in Title IX, VAWA, and Clery Act is essential. Bachelor’s degree required; J.D. strongly preferred; master’s degree in a related field will be considered. Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in Title IX, student conduct, campus safety, compliance, higher education administration, and/or related legal issues, required.
