Genotyping and maintenance of a mouse colony of approximately 200 cages, breeding and monitoring mice and keeping mouse records; (ii) maintenance of Drosophila (fruit fly) lines. (iii) perfusing, injecting and bleeding mice, removing mouse organs; (iv) routine preparation of buffers, solutions and culture media (v) cell culture; (vi) maintenance of inventories of cells, antibodies and reagents (vii) routine shipment of reagents and of mouse and fly lines; (viii) maintenance of lab radiation safety, including wipe tests and monitoring (ix) manage the laboratory.

The person will:

• Perform a moderate number of simple or moderate technical procedures;
• Require occasional guidance;
• Occasionally be responsible for ordering routine supplies;
• Rarely modify technical procedures;
• Rarely train other lab members;
• Rarely guide other lab members;
• A simple / limited understanding of scientific literature and the research goals and rationale is required;
• Occasionally analyze data;
• Rarely interpret data;
• Rarely make written contributions to papers and grant proposals.*

Experience and Education Background

• Required to have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in a related science or equivalent skills and experience, and zero to two years of experience.
• Several months of laboratory experience preferred.
