Learning Intervention Specialist

Job Summary

Intervention Learning Specialists provide 1 on 1 guidance to help students strengthen various academic, time management, and organizational skills. This position specifically supports the mission of the University and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics by assisting in institutional compliance with NCAA and Conference rules and regulations.

Job Duties


  • Assess individual student learning needs 
  • Help students develop appropriate compensatory learning skills in the areas of study strategies, organization, time management, reading and writing skills, note taking, test taking, etc.
  • Provide consistent and systematic structure for the implementation of these skills
  • Coordinate services with other on-campus academic support providers as needed and in accordance to student need
  • Maintain an electronic summary of student progress
  • Communicate effectively with SAASS staff regarding student status and progress
  • Participate in bi-monthly staff meetings

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree; experience working with students in an educational setting; understanding of effective learning strategies and at least one year of experience applying this knowledge in an educational setting; experience working with diverse populations. Experience gained during internships and/or graduate assistantships may be counted towards these requirements.
