Position Summary:

Tenure track (academic 9-month) position at the Assistant Professor level specializing in Food Chemistry. Research areas include, but are not limited to: 1) small or large molecule chemistry; 2) chemical and biological properties of molecules relevant to food; 3) development and elucidation of novel, chemical-based phenomena related to the quality, safety or sustainability of food materials. The position includes teaching undergraduate and graduate courses and serving as advisor to graduate and undergraduate students.

Principal Duties:

Incumbent must:
1) develop a strong, independent, extramurally-funded research program;
2) teach an undergraduate course in food chemistry, with potential contributions to other courses within the curriculum, and support of education within the graduate program;
3) develop collaborative relationships in research and instructional programs within Food Science and the University; and
4) contribute to outreach/extension and service functions of the Department, College, University and professional societies.

The position carries a commitment to the three functions of resident instruction, research, and outreach/service, as well as professional and university service as appropriate to the position and rank.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Ph.D. in Food Science or aligned fields (e.g. Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry)

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

None beyond that required to obtain the required Ph.D. degree and area of specialization.
Post-doctoral experience is expected.
