Open Rank Professors – Tenure Track
The Department of Psychological and Quantitative Foundations at the University of Iowa invites applications for two, 9-month, tenure-track faculty positions (open rank) in our APA-accredited school psychology program, to begin August 19, 2020.
We are seeking individuals with interests and experiences in the field of professional school psychology with area of research open. The successful candidate will advise school psychology graduate students, engage in scholarly research, seek external funding, and teach graduate-level courses.
The preferred candidate will have a strong commitment to a scientist-practitioner philosophy and a program of research related to the investigation and/or implementation of best practice services to clients from diverse backgrounds. The College of Education is building a critical mass of faculty in various programs to focus on addressing mental health in the schools.
Prospective candidates must have earned a doctoral degree in school, counseling or clinical psychology from an APA-accredited program.
(1) Established record or evidence of strong potential in scholarship relevant to applied psychology, with specific areas of expertise open, (2) Ability to work collaboratively and with diverse populations, (3) Ability to teach, advise, and mentor graduate students in research and practice, (4) Licensed or eligible for licensure as a psychologist in Iowa.
(1) Established record of obtaining external funding, (2) interest and/or experience serving as school psychology program coordinator, (3) established record of scholarship and intervention to address mental health issues (broadly defined) in schools, and (4) national certification as a school psychologist (NASP).
Major responsibilities include: conduct an active, funded program of research and scholarship; teach graduate-level courses consistent with program and departmental needs; advise and mentor graduate students in the school psychology program; and provide program, department, college, and professional service. The successful candidate will work in full collaboration with faculty members in school psychology to consider new initiatives within the college and university.

About the Program
The School Psychology program at The University of Iowa is a doctoral program that was granted full accreditation by the American Psychological Association in 1992. The university is making a significant investment in growing the program through additional faculty hires and a renewed commitment to addressing critical needs in schools including the addition of a new BCBA program. The School Psychology program has a long history of excellence in preparing scientist-practitioners for practice as health service psychologists in multiple settings including academia. We are seeking to expand on our existing partnerships with partner schools, the Iowa State Department of Education and the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics to address school mental health and other critical issues within school psychology.
