Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit

Position Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to manage all aspects of the day to day operations of the Spartan Club and to partner with alumni, friends, parents, coaches, administrators, faculty and businesses, to achieve all goals related to the Athletic Scholarship Fund and Team Enrichment Funds.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum four years experience in fundraising or a closely related/comparable field.
  • Experienced relationship builder with excellent communication skills and the ability to be responsive, resourceful and relationship oriented.
  • Knowledge of computer systems for prospect, donor, and ticketing management.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends with willingness to travel.
  • Substantial experience and success in sales, philanthropic fundraising and project management.
  • Background in higher education and athletic department operations.
Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and CertificatesPreferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree preferred.

Essential Tasks

• Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward individuals believed to have potential to make major and leadership gifts from alumni, parents, friends, corporations, and staff.
• Create strategic fundraising and campaign plan for Athletics in conjunctions with University Advancement and Athletics Director.
• Sustain level of major gift activity commensurate with performance expectations and prepare detailed and timely contact reports of all visits

Essential Tasks

• In conjunction with the Senior Associate AD for Advancement and the Athletic Director, organize the activities of the Spartan Club Executive Committee and serve as the primary facilitator of its efforts.
• Provide leadership and strategic direction for Spiro’s Ball, the Spartan Club’s annual marquee silent and live auction event; will also serve as primary manager of the Spiro’s Ball Committee.
• Directs all activities of the Athletic Hall of Fame Committee.

The University's Academic Affairs Division consists of seven academic schools, the College of Arts & Sciences, the Graduate School and the Lloyd International Honors College. The names below are the ones currently in use. In some cases, the names have changed since the academic units were founded. The schools and their dates of establishment are: Graduate School 1921-22;College of Arts & Sciences 1969, Lloyd International Honors College 2005, Joint School of Nanoscience & Nanoengineering 2007, Joseph M. Bryan School of Business & Economics 1969, School of Education 1921, School of Health and Human Sciences 2011, School of Music, Theatre and Dance 2010, and School of Nursing 1966.
