The University of Denver (DU) is a top-ranked university in a thriving city at the base of the Rocky Mountains. The ethnic and cultural diversity of the Denver Metro area includes a Latino/Hispanic population that represents about a third of the population, a strong and visible African American community, a diverse array of Southeast Asian refugees and immigrants, and a similarly diverse population of refugees and immigrants from East Africa. The Graduate School of Professional Psychology (GSPP) at DU was created in 1976 to house one of the first Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) programs in the country, under the Vail training model (practitioner-scholar). The PsyD program has been continuously accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) since 1979. Furthermore, GSPP provides four specialized masters programs: Sport Coaching, Sport and Performance Psychology, Forensic Psychology, and International Disaster Psychology, as well as online certificates and continuing education. The School also has a partially affiliated, APA-accredited internship consortium and several in-house and satellite psychology training clinics that serve Denver and the surrounding communities. As a professional school, GSPP promotes and utilizes high-level pedagogy that integrates applied practice, theory, research, and scholarship.

Position Summary

This part-time staff position will conduct site visits at community agencies that provide practicum training for GSPP students. Through these site visits and supplemental communication, the Field Placement Liaison will build and strengthen relationships with community agencies and ensure that accreditation and program requirements are being met. The Field Placement Liaison will report to the PsyD Field Placement Director but will support Field Placement Directors in the International Disaster Psychology and Forensic Psychology programs. Finally, the Liaison will share feedback and information with a variety of stakeholders to support process improvement.

This is a part-time, non-benefited position expected to work up to 20 hours per week, not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year. This position is funded using temporary funding through June 2020 that is expected, but not guaranteed, to continue.

Essential Functions

  • Conduct face-to-face site visits at 160+ listed and unlisted field placement locations for the PsyD, Forensic Psychology, and International Disaster Psychology programs.
  • Orient and/or review community site supervisor(s) to practicum expectations and policies as well as requirements for American Psychological Association (APA) and/or other accrediting bodies, including reminding supervisors of evaluation deadlines.
  • Maintain log of completed site visits (hard copy and electronic).
  • Complete site visit report detailing specifics of training opportunities, services provided, structure of supervision, and other relevant information and submit report to the Field Placement Directors and upload to database in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain relevant field placement demographics in database (i.e., supervisor credentials, APA practicum setting code, APA activity codes, number of students at each field placement, ways in which direct observation mandate is met, etc.).
  • Attend periodic face-to-face meeting with Field Placement Directors to review site visit findings, trends observed, factors impacting expansion or contraction of field placement positions and to discuss agency and student compliance with the community practicum expectations and policies.
  • Complete follow up correspondence with field placement supervisors as needed (i.e., answering questions, obtaining updated Agency Fact Sheets, reminding of evaluation deadlines, etc.).
  • Assist Field Placement Directors with the recruitment and creation of new field placements.
  • Assist in the identification of issues affecting field placement availability.Interface with operations staff regarding establishment, updating or maintaining appropriate memorandum of understanding (MOU) documents with listed field placements.
  • As appropriate, provide introductions of field placement supervisors to relevant DU GSPP programs thus assisting in furthering community partnerships.
  • Interface with Systems Analyst for Data and Technology and Student Services Administrator as needed to maintain up to date accounting of student placements.
  • Engage in conflict resolution.
  • Complete other duties as requested/assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • PsyD or PhD in Clinical or Counseling Psychology.
  • Current driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensed or license eligible to practice psychology in Colorado.

Work Schedule
Flexible schedule during business hours. Expected to work up to 20 hours per week.
