Medical Assisting Faculty/Program Director


The incumbent is responsible for conducting college classes for undergraduate students, directing all the activities for the Medical Assisting program, maintaining program accreditation, and performing related work as required. The program director is responsible for program effectiveness including outcomes, organizations, administration, continuous review, planning and development

Requirements of thePosition:

*Bachelor’s degree in business education or health care field, with Master’s degree in progress or anticipated, from a recognized, accredited institution plus one of the following required credentials:
**CMA (AAMA)
**RMA (AMT)
**NCMA (NCCT) taken after November 30, 2010
**CCMA (NHA) taken after January 30, 2011
**CMAC (AMCA) taken after October 8, 2015
*A minimum of three (3) years of employment in a healthcare facility, including a minimum of 160 hours in an ambulatory healthcare setting performing or observing administrative and clinical procedures as performed by medical assistants.
*A minimum of one (1) year teaching experience in post secondary and/or vocational/technical education.
*Must have instruction in education theory and techniques.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

*Develop goals, learning objectives, and assessments to meetaccreditation Standards & Guidelines including those for SACSCOC andCAAHEP.
*Maintain CMA (AAMA) or RMA (AMT) credential by CEUobtainment at local, state, and national meetings.
*Communicate with professional and affiliated agencies.
*Recommend council membership and coordinate advisory groupmeetings and programs.
*Supervise curriculum and effectiveness of program usingassessment data and workforce input.
*Develop semester class schedule.
*Participate in the recruitment and oversee the MA admissionof students.
*Recruit, recommend for hire, credential, orient, supervise,and evaluate adjunct faculty.
*Identify and recommend appropriate texts, software,equipment and instructional methods for the program.
*Oversee the safety, inventory, and operation of labs andfacilities.
*Process departmental requisitions following purchasingpolicies and departmental requisitions following purchasing policies anddepartmental priorities.
*Maintain security and records of expendable andnon-expendable equipment and supplies.
*Prepare budgetary planning and TAF requests for dean'sapproval.
*Organize, coordinate, and monitor MA practicum (externship)experiences.
*Assist with student placement after graduation.
*Whenever appropriate, perform public services to thecommunity as defined by the institution's role and mission; and service to theinstitution and service within the bounds of the applicant's discipline andbudgeted assignment.
*Fulfill all instructional requirements as mandated byCleveland State Community College and the College System of Tennessee.
*Participate as an instructor in the planning,implementation and evaluation of subjects taught.
*As needed, teach during all operational hours of thecollege on- or off-campus.
*Utilize appropriate instructional materials and methods.
*Maintain currency in instructional field and teachingmethodology.
*Devote a minimum of37.5 hours per week to the institution, maintain appropriate office hours, andsecure approval for any commitments which might affect employment.
*Be accessible to students for advisement, academic help,and assistance depending on instructional format.
*Participate in institutional and academic unit meetings.
*Maintain and safeguard all necessary records and reportgrades periodically as prescribed by the Registrar.
*Comply with Cleveland State Community College and theCollege System of Tennessee's Guidelines and Policies.
*Participate in periodic evaluations.
*Support and participate in the recruitment and retentionefforts of the college.
