HVAC Mechanics perform journey level installation, repair, and maintenance on a variety of package and central heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. Other duties include preventative maintenance; servicing, overhauling, and maintaining a variety of window and small package units or large central units; and determining equipment needs. HVAC Mechanics receive job assignments from a supervisor however most work is performed with little supervision.

The University of Virginia's College at Wise invites applications for a Trades Technician III.  This position will be responsible for HVAC service and repairs to include diagnostic and preventative maintenance on a variety of units; electrical repairs and maintenance; building maintenance; moving furniture and equipment; setting up for events; and other duties as assigned.  Duties will include lifting various amounts of weight; climbing ladders and stairs; using man-lifts; and working in enclosed spaces, rooftops and ceilings.

A high school diploma or equivalent is required, as well as a HVAC Journeyman or higher certification, electrical experience, and a valid driver's license.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Licensure: Journey level or higher HVAC license.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

Employee will be required to crawl, kneel, squat, bend and twist in order to perform their work. Employee must walk around job sites. Employee will work with materials of different weights and perform repetitive motions.
