About Augustana College:

As an excellent liberal arts college that will continue to thrive through the 21st century, Augustana seeks a Clinical Audiologist to join our team and support the efforts of growing speech, language and hearing clinic.  


Job Description:

Reports to:  Director of the Center for Speech, Language and Hearing

Wage Grade:  765

Status: Non-Exempt (hourly)  Part-time (16 hours per week) throughout the academic year and summer.

Overview: Provides audiology services, including hearing aid fitting and follow-up care and a variety of audiology diagnostic procedures in a college-based speech, language, and hearing clinic. Provides clinical instruction and observation opportunities to undergraduate and graduate communication sciences and disorders students.

Primary Job Duties:

  1. Assess patients, conduct audiologic testing and create plans for follow-up care to clients across the lifespan
  2. Document care and decisions, and prepare audiology reports in a timely manner
  3. Collaborate with support staff to complete billing procedures, including Illinois Medicaid and Medicare documentation 
  4. Communicate and collaborate with service providers in our clinic and in the region
  5. Work within a team to grow the audiology caseload 
  6. Provide clinical instruction and observation opportunities for graduate and undergraduate clinicians and complete applicable documentation for students' clinical education
  7. Supervise students working in the clinic setting, providing appropriate oversight and robust feedback to achieve identified learning outcomes.

Additional Duties

  1. Collaborate with departmental colleagues to revise clinical procedures, as  needed
  2. Participate in community outreach/awareness activities on a limited basis 
  3. Other duties as assigned


Requirements:

Education:

  • Audiological doctorate and Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association 

Skills & Experience: 

  • 3 or more years of experience working in an audiology practice or clinic is require.  Experience in a educational setting is highly preferred.

  • Excellent communicator, both written and oral.

  • Ability to problem solve, resolve issues as they arise, and be resourceful.

  • Ability to relate to a wide variety of personalities and styles including a diverse student and faculty base.

 Physical Requirements:  Must be able to lift 15 pounds on an occasional basis.  Also required is the ability to listen, hear, speak, read, and write.  Must possess finger and hand dexterity for use of a computer and audiologic equipment.

Expected hours of work:

This position has a 12 month work schedule.  This is a .4 FTE position with flexible scheduling 16 hours per week within our normal business hours (Monday - Friday between 8 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.)
