Associate Director of Development, University Extension Job Number Full/Part Time Schedule Salary 201907294702 Full Time 8AM - 5PM $69,000 - $135,900 Position Information The anticipated budgeted amount for this position is $69,000 - $80,000. Under the general direction of the Sr. Director of Development, Graduate School of Education (GSOE) and in coordination with the Associate Vice Chancellor for Development, the Associate Director of Development for UCR Extension will be a front-line fundraiser responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of comprehensive fundraising programs that will generate private support for UCR Extension. Working with the Dean of UCR Extension, in coordination with the Sr. Director of Development GSOE, they will be responsible for creating and executing a strategic fundraising plan and establishing long- and short-range goals that reflect the academic and outreach priorities of UCR Extension. While this position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities, there will be opportunities to mentor and educate staff and employees within UCR Extension about the development process and how to think more strategically regarding philanthropy to their specific departments. Fundraising responsibilities entail raising support for scholarships, fellowships, and programs/areas that enhance the overall student experience at UCR. The Associate Director of Development is responsible for qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gift donors and prospects, connecting alumni, donors, friends, volunteers and other constituents to the campus, and to ultimately increase individual gifts. The incumbent will identify and manage a group of approximately 100 prospects and develop and execute long-and-short-term strategies to grow the philanthropic pipeline and secure major gifts ($25,000) and above. Minimum Requirements Thorough working knowledge of fundraising, donor relations, and public relations concepts, principles, procedures, and techniques.
Thorough working knowledge of the location, its vision, mission, goals, objectives, achievements and infrastructure.
Strong organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills, including skills in creative and effective decision-making and problem identification/avoidance/resolution, and project management skills.
Strong written and interpersonal communication skills to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the organization and with outside constituencies.
Strong skills in maintaining confidentiality.
Strong knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, etc.
Proven success at fundraising by developing and implementing strategic plans that incorporate a concise definition of goals, targeted audiences, and strategies in-line with institution goals and closing gifts ($25,000+) from individuals, corporations, and foundations, both local and national.
Demonstrated skills to work as a member of an office-wide team of professional and administrative colleagues. Skills to interact with diverse constituencies and to work collaboratively in teams and with other units of the campus.
Advanced writing skills to independently write concise, logical, grammatically correct, analytical or narrative reports, correspondence, or proposals.
Proven computer skills to create documents, spreadsheets, and reports using Word, Access, Excel, or other software applications.
Demonstrated success at meeting predetermined goals and objectives through effective program/project planning, organization, execution, and evaluation.
Skill in working independently and following through on assignments with minimal direction, and setting priorities that accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities. Excellent problem-solving skills with proven ability to strategize, prioritize, and multi-task to meet departmental goals/deadlines.
Strong sense of ethical conduct that will inspire confidence and motivation with the proven ability to persuade colleagues and donor prospects, while maintaining confidentiality in all matters as they relate to sensitive donor relations issues.
General knowledge of the various types of charitable gifts, including, in-kind gifts, planned giving, gifts of securities, and gifts of real property.
Ability to work effectively with supervisor, deans and directors, academic and University Leaders, students, and volunteers to achieve fundraising goals.
Skill in evaluating and analyzing data and information to identify patterns, trends, and relationships, and formulating logical and objective conclusions or recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications Experience in coordinating and integrating fundraising efforts with alumni, media relations, and marketing professionals within advancement. Experience in development and/or alumni affairs and/or annual giving.

Experience supporting capital or comprehensive campaigns in higher education.

Experience supporting capital or comprehensive campaigns in higher education.Experience with Raiser's Edge or other constituent databases. Experience with exporting/importing data from or to different software applications; and operating knowledge of internet for data gathering purposes.

Knowledge of a broad range of academic and institutional issues related to a major research university environment.
