High school graduate or equivalent; knowledge of the materials, tools and methods used in the construction and maintenance fields; knowledge of carpentry and painting. Current driver’s license and driving record acceptable to the University must be maintained as a condition of employment.


Journeyman level training or graduate from vocational school. Established ability to assist experienced carpenters and painters.

Primary Responsibilities

Assist and perform as directed various building maintenance duties. Assist carpenters and painters as directed. Work shall meet or exceed the standards of the Building Maintenance Department. Employee shall practice safe work habits, proper safety procedures, and use personal protective devices; must also actively participate in safety training programs. Other duties as assigned. Position is Security Sensitive.

After hours and weekend “on call” availability required.

Texas Law requires a 60 day waiting period before new state employees are eligible to enroll in health insurance.
