The Department of Communication at Missouri State University, in Springfield, Missouri, seeks applications for a Department Head of Communication beginning July 1, 2020. The Department of Communication at Missouri State University is one of seven departments in the College of Arts and Letters. The Department Head provides active leadership in recruitment and retention, curriculum and scheduling, hiring and evaluation of faculty, and leading inclusion efforts. The Department Head also provides leadership to all areas of the department, including undergraduate and graduate programs, the Center for Dispute Resolution (CDR), and the MSU Debate Team.

Required Qualifications: Candidate must have terminal degree (doctorate) in communication and be tenurable as a full professor in the department of communication. Must have at least three years of comprehensive administrative experience, including responsibility for recruitment and evaluation of personnel, guiding curriculum development, budgeting, and promotion and support of faculty scholarship. Must demonstrate a strong record of scholarship in a communication related area of expertise. Must demonstrate support of initiatives in online education. Must demonstrate commitment to fostering a diverse environment. Must be successful in teaching, research, and service. Must have excellent communication skills.
