Job Description:

Position Summary:

The Department of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) at the Irvine campus in Orange County, CA is seeking a highly qualified candidate for an Affiliate Faculty position in our M.S. ABA program, which includes BACB®-approved coursework and practicum. Courses in the M.S. ABA program at the Irvine campus are offered in a traditional, on-ground format, meeting on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the day. The M.S. ABA program is rigorous and dedicated to upholding a strong focus on the science of behavior analysis throughout. This position will be based primarily out of the Irvine location in Orange County, CA.

Principal Duties:

  • Teach topics related to Basic and Applied Behavior Analysis at a graduate level
  • Contribute to curriculum design and Departmental development
  • Monitor student learning outcomes and progress
  • Provide clinical consultation, research supervision, and academic advisement to M.S. ABA students
  • Chair and act as reader on thesis, applied projects, and dissertation committees
  • Interact and communicate successfully with a diverse population
  • Participate in community outreach and student recruitment activities 
  • Act in a way that embodies the mission, vision and values of The Chicago School
  • Work closely with the Department Chair to uphold a highly-respected program in behavior analysis that nurtures the development of behavior analysts who are passionate and science-minded
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the ABA Department Chair, which may include also teaching courses and providing advisement to students in the ABA Department at the Los Angeles campus if needed

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Expertise across multiple ABA areas and skills, such as precision teaching, verbal behavior, discrete trials, fluency-building, autism, and clinical behavior analysis (e.g., Acceptance and Commitment Therapy).
  • Experience and expertise in the use of instructional design, including the use of PSI, SAFMEDS and other behavioral methods of instruction with documented effectiveness.
  • Strong knowledge base in Assessment & Intervention and Research Methods
  • Strong knowledge base in basic behavior analysis, radical behaviorism, and behavioral ethics
  • Maintain a professional appearance and act in respectful and ethical manner
  • Able to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others
  • Communicate ideas and information effectively in both vocal and written form
  • Possess the ability to adapt to changing circumstances, needs, and demands
  • Maintain knowledge of local and national training, credentialing, and licensing requirements
  • Possess computer proficiency in MS Office

Position Qualifications:

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Behavior Analysis (or related field)
  • Must have BCBA® or BCBA-D® certification in good standing
  • Teaching experience in higher education (at least 3+ years)
