General Summary

The Department of Accounting and Finance at the College of Business School, invites applications for Part-Time Lecturer positions in the Accounting, Finance, and DS area.

Depending on the needs of the program, which vary from semester to semester, we may need new Part-Time Lecturers to primarily teach undergraduate courses:

Accounting: Primarily 200 level courses, Principles of Financial/Managerial Accounting. However, occasionally we also have needs to teach courses at the 300 or upper-level.

Finance: Primarily FIN 350, Principles of Finance. However, occasionally we also have needs to teach courses at the upper-level.

Decision Science (DS): Primarily DS 265, Business Statistics I. However, occasionally we also have needs to teach courses at the upper-level.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Teaching may include a number of particular obligations which employees are expected to fulfill, including but not limited to: meeting with students during and outside of assigned classes, assessing student work and performance, preparing syllabi and course materials, providing copies of syllabi and course materials to their supervisor on request, and assigning and submitting grades in accordance with established Eastern Michigan University schedules.

Perform related duties as required by the Department.

Qualifications

Accounting:
Applicants with an advanced degree in Accounting are preferred; however, individuals with degrees in related disciplines relevant to topical area may be considered. Relevant experience in teaching, research, and employment related to the topical area will be considered. A completed MA or MS degree and CPA or other related certification is a minimum requirement. Applicants with a PhD or doctoral candidates will be given overall preference.

Finance:
Applicants with a terminal degree (Ph.D. or DBA) in hand or a doctoral candidate in the Finance discipline will be preferred. Candidates with a completed graduate degree (MBA, MS, or MA) in Finance will also be considered. Relevant experience in teaching, research, and employment in the Finance area are highly desirable. Those in the related academic fields with relevant finance experience may also apply.

Decision Science:
Applicants with an advanced degree in Decision Science or Statistics are preferred; however, individuals with degrees in related disciplines relevant to topical area may be considered. Relevant experience in teaching, research, and employment related to the topical area will be considered. A completed MA or MS degree is a minimum requirement. Applicants with a PhD or doctoral candidates will be given overall preference.

Appointments for each term are finalized by the Department Head in consultation with the Accounting, Finance, and Decision Science Personnel Committees.
