Position Summary

The Center for Research on Ingredient Safety (CRIS) in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources invites applications for a 12-month, fixed term Assistant Professor position. The Assistant Professor will prepare authoritative reports (e.g., white papers) on the state-of-the-science on the toxicology and safety of specific chemical ingredients in consumer products based on information in the scientific literature. The successful candidate will be responsible to read, interpret and synthesize information from peer-reviewed literature on chemical ingredient safety, as well as, contribute to the development of experimental design, implementation of studies, and analysis and interpretation of results from safety studies. This position will work in coordination with the CRIS Director and the CRIS Director of Science Communications to communicate scientific information to technical audiences, including policy makers, as well as the lay public. In addition, this position will be responsible for assisting in communicating the services and mission of CRIS to internal and external stakeholders and partners.

Required Degree

Doctorate

Minimum Requirements

A PhD degree or equivalent in toxicology or related biomedical discipline (e.g., immunology, biochemistry, pharmacology, …); evidence of strong written and oral communication skills; capable of working independently as well as part of a team; and strong interpersonal skills.

Desired Qualifications

Two years postgraduate work experience in a science related position is preferred. Applicants should have a strong record of accomplishments and publications, as well as, experience in interacting and/or collaborating with industry.
